David Mabuza: South Africa deputy president’s office reacts to death rumours

The reaction followed talks of his death on social media.A statement on Sunday said the office had received “numerous calls from concerned South Africans regarding the health status of deputy president David Mabuza.”

It assured South Africans that the deputy president “is at home and well. Anything contrary to this is a malicious and unfortunate rumour.”He had been scheduled to appear before the National Council of Provinces on July 25 and in the National Assembly on July 30.A joint statement by National Assembly Speaker, Thandi Modise, and NCOP chairperson, Amos Masondo, announced that Mabuza was unable to honour the appearances.

They said the deputy president has undertaken “to avail himself to appear before both houses, on a mutually agreed date, upon his full recovery.”
