The convict confessed to impersonating a Thailand based Chinese contractor, Mr Zhang Wei to defraud two innocent Chinese citizens of Y13,000 Yuan.
Justice Inyang Eden Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja sentenced the convict to Kuje prison in Abuja without option of fine to serve as deterrent to others. In the charge, the convict was said to have in 2020 fraudulently impersonated one Mr Zhang Wei, a contractor based in Thailand and obtained 5,000 Chinese Yuan from one Mr Li, a Chinese citizen via gift card.
He was also accused of fraudulently impersonating the same person and obtained another 8,000 Chinese Yuan from one Mr Gou, another Chinese citizen against the provisions of the Cybercrime Act.
