The Acting Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Customs Service paid a working visit to Katsina State on Friday to enforce closure of all land borders

The decision, he said is in line with the directives of President Tinubu, who is also currently, the Chairman of ECOWAS, following the recent coup that befell the country.

In the bid to ensure full compliance to Mr President’s directives, the Acting Customs boss directed the full blockage of all the land borders and also suspended both outbound and outward movement of cargo until further notice. The decision, the customs boss said its in the best interest of not only Nigeria, but the entire west Africa subregion, especially, communities along the border line.

Adeniyi urged all other sister security agencies in Katsina to work in harmony and ensure full compliance to the directives by ensuring full blockage of all the land borders connecting the two countries.. He, however, urged people in the affected border communities to bear with the situation with a view that other diplomatic fronts as well as the ongoing engagement between ECOWAS and the Republic of Niger will result in some kind of compliance that would be favourable to peace.
