Cross River State Government will commence its first energy and power summit in Calabar today with the aims of diversifying its economy and creating employment opportunities for its teeming youths.

The state Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy, Mr Eka Wills, who made this known during a media chat in Calabar weekend, said the search for a solution to dwindling oil revenues led to focus on other sources of generating energy and power.

“The resultant strategy is a three-pronged approach of public private and strategic investor partnership to realise the dawn of a new era,” he added. Professionals, under the aegis of The Secretariat Club, have stressed the need for organsations of experts with lofty aims and ideals to take maters of succession and continuity seriously.

House of Representatives member, Dennis Idahosa , has warned the people of Benin never to allow their emotions to be exploited by those with ulterior motives to bring the palace of Oba of Benin into disrepute. The National Institute of Credit Administration has charged employers of credit professionals in the country to establish in their offices credit awareness desks for the existing and potential credit customers in their businesses.
