Aspirants of All Progressives Congress APC), Ondo State chapter held a protest on Thursday over the delay in counting votes after delegates began voting

Delegate accreditation and voting began about 12:20 p.m., but there was a snag when the electoral officers announced that ballot papers had not yet arrived.

Instead of voting on ballot paper, delegates wrote the names of their candidates on a sheet of paper. After the voting was completed, the electoral officer, Babayemi Kayode, announced that he had received a call from the party’s State Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, instructing him to halt the process and wait until 3:00 p.m. for the arrival of ballot papers. All of the candidates objected and demanded that the votes be counted before being transferred to the ballot papers.

One of the candidates, Bosun Ogunleye, said that the State Chairman was not qualified to direct affairs in Akure.Attempts by the electoral officer to postpone the counting were met with opposition from the candidates. After the results were counted, Toluwani Borokini, the incumbent MP representing Akure Constituency 1, won with 16 votes.
