The Osun State government has said “the reason for extending the lockdown directives is to forestall community transmission of coronavirus.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Ismail Omipidan said the decision was in line with the recommendation by medical experts and concerned authorities which was taken in the overall interest of the State. His words: “the best way to avoid community transmission of the virus was to maintain the total lockdown and ensure that nobody is allowed to come into the State.“Allowing people to move freely within and outside the state would be dangerous and suicidal to the collective health of the citizenry. Imagine what would have happened if we had not ordered a total lockdown. It would have been worse and we would have recorded more cases.
