The World Health Organization, WHO, regional office for Africa in Brazzaville, Congo, has said that the number of coronavirus cases in Africa has risen to over 72,000 in the past 24 hours.According to the tweet, COVID-19 has killed 2,400 people in the continent, while Lesotho has finally recorded its first case of COVID-19.

“Over 72,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases on the African continent – with more than 25,000 recoveries & 2,400 deaths. The first case in Lesotho was confirmed in the past 24hrs,” it said. The WHO African Region COVID-19 dashboard showed that South Africa, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Ghana, and Nigeria have continued to top the list of countries with the highest reported coronavirus cases.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has announced that another 184 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the last 24 hours, bringing to 4971 the number of confirmed cases and 164 deaths in the country as of Wednesday night.
