COVID-19 spread: Ex Imo lawmaker accuses Chiji-led State Assembly of recklessness - Daily Post Nigeria

The lawmaker who spoke via a phone chat said the situation could have been avoided if the House had not reconvened at the heat of the pandemic.

“The most worrisome is that all entreaties by members to stop the use of one microphone in the course of debates during plenaries met the brick wall. So, members were unknowingly passing the virus through the single microphone while the speaker had his own separate microphone.“Now that some members have tested positive and may have passed the same to their family members, how much care has the leadership shown? I even heard that some of their aides have not received salaries since this period.

Ahaneku insisted that before the outbreak of the virus in the House, the Speaker had instructed the Clerk to ensure strict adherence to all precautionary measures as given by the NCDC.
