Johnny Edward and Tosin Oluwalowo Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa and goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa, as well as officials of the national team based in Nigeria may miss the international friendly games

against Ivory Coast and Tunisia in Austria in October due to COVID-19 restrictions, The PUNCH reports.

The ‘third-country nationals’, according to schengenvisainfo.com, are predominantly from African and Asian nations and would need Schengen visas to enter Austria. Further checks on the website of the Austrian Embassy in Nigeria also showed that visas were not currently being issued by the European nation. This development may also affect members of coach Gernot Rohr’s backroom staff based in Nigeria, and Ezenwa, who features for domestic league side Heartland.

“I still hope to have my captain Ahmed Musa, who plays in Saudi Arabia. It will also depend on Austria’s own travel restrictions,” Rohr told France Football.
