COVID-19: Lagos State Shuts Down Schools FightCOVID19 CoronaVirusUpdate COVID19NIGERIA CoronavirusOutbreak

The Lagos Government has announced the closure of public and private schools in the state starting from Monday, March 23rd, 2020.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Commissioner for Education, Folashade Adefisayo said the move is part of measures to curtail the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. “The move becomes necessary to prevent our children and their teachers from getting more vulnerable to the pandemic,” the state read partly.

The Commissioner urged parents to ensure that their children practice social distancing while at home, as well as personal hygiene such as washing their hands. She added that “The closure is not intended to create panic” but to serve as a means of curbing the disease, assuring that the Lagos State Government will continue to trace “all contacts of the identified cases.”The suspension would last for four weeks, with a necessary review carried out if need be.

All this could have been avoided if only they had placed travel restrictions earlier. This government sickens me.

Also, Why won't work places shut down? Is it not the same people who gather at religious grounds that gather at work places?

Other states should follow suit

Can that be the solution after all we meet in the market and bus 🤔

Q Qv.

You don’t mean it.. just schools What about other social gatherings

When will this be in effect and would it extend to universities?

This is serious God help us

The whole world has been humbled with the emerging of COVID 19, especially African, with Nigeria in my mined. Our leaders can't travel for medical tourism. This is a lesson for are leaders to fix our hospitals. If COVID 19 is causing a global panic now.

Those barking at arewa like dogs for doing the same will call it a great initiative now.

It was about time anyway. Since we do not have the medical capacity to handle an outbreak here in Nigeria, the smartest to do is prevent gatherings of specified number of persons so as to slow down or contain new infections. Other states should follow.

What about the mega churches on Sunday and mosques on Friday?

Mr Governor, I am writing you to let you know that if you love people of Lagos as a whole you will make infrared thermometer available in all BRT terminals and hand sanitizers and then you need to do something about the crowd there too to avoid COVID 19.

Things are getting out of hand

God help us

Thank God man will have enough rest

Including higher institutions becayt if federal government no talk Unilag and Yabatech can be so stubborn
