Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has directed the Commissioner of the State Ministry of Finance, Dr. Aham Uko to commence payment of civil servants and verified pensioners from Friday, March 27 to Monday 30th.

In a release issued on Thursday by the Commissioner of Information in the state, Chief John Okiyi-Kalu, it was a compassionate directive from the governor that is aimed at ensuring that workers and verified pensioners have money to stock up food in the event of a lockdown in the state. Okiyi in the release disclosed that the Governor has also directed the conclusion of pension verifications Friday, March 27th.

The Information Commissioner further disclosed that the Governor also mandated the Inter-ministerial Committee on Coronavirus to commence issuance of daily updates to citizens till further notice.
