The Nigerian Communications Commission has warned Nigerians not to fall victim to a fraudulent message being spread by a fake website.NCC noted that the website is asking Nigerian citizens to apply for a free Internet bundle given by the Nigerian government in collaboration with NCC.
NCC in the statement which was signed by its spokesperson Henry Nkemadu said “neither the Nigerian government nor the Commission has issued such a message to Nigerian citizens.” The Commission strongly advised Nigerian citizens and all telecom consumers to beware of the fraudulent, false and spurious claim, urging the general public to, “discountenance the falsehood which has gained traction by the rise in tempo of its circulation.”
“The message should be disregarded in its entirety. The said website is a sham and a total deception to dupe Nigerians of their hard-earned money, and to harness personal data for fraudulent purposes,” NCC added. The Commission warned that Nigerians should be wary of the antics of cyber criminals, who will want to take advantage of this challenging period of COVID-19 pandemic, and the stay-at-home directive of the government to scam telecom consumers and the general public.

I wasn't expecting this to be true in the first place.

Have they ever given us something free?
Bastard Govt! Very insensitive to the plight of the common man. They cannot even direct the NCC to make it cheap and affordable to mitigate the psychosocial effect of the lock down. Its a shame!
It will be recorded Good if it's possible but there is also a bad record for not doing what's right
What of the money that was said to be given in some states but it was just a lie?
We already know FG actually have nothing to offer us but to loot billions of dollars for there personal use... After the billions donated to the FG by Nigerian philosophst what have the FG or planing to do but to loot...
NCC is shit though.
Nigerians don’t need free internet, if there a lockdown and people are shouting no food to eat yet Twitter street is still this crowded with fake news and unnecessary comments then I doubt they need anything at all. A hungry man won’t have data to throw jabs on SM.
Why shouldn't they? Why not cajole MTN and Co to give N2bn each worth of free data to all her subscribers? Afterall, the names of Telecom giants were conspicuously left out in the Covid-19 relief fund donations
NCC should be ashamed of themselves...rubbish
We were not even expecting it because they failed us already
We know you people are not useful before so this isn't coming as a shock
Money, food you can't give and now data. What do you want to give self? And you said people must stay at home even without light.
Do we even need it? 😏
Honestly our government dont need all this cheap lies.... if they want to loot the donation they should do that without making Nigerians look stupid... how could 3 billion be distributed by hand just within three days...... enough of this lies.
