The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Edo State Chapter, on Friday, demanded the reopening of churches in the state, noting such move would assist government efforts in a number of ways.

In a communique issued at the end of its executive committee meeting, the PFN said the pulpit would increase the creation of awareness on the preventive measures to curb the spread of the pandemic.

The resolution read in part, “PFN is not unaware of the efforts of the state Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, and the efforts of churches to be closed for two weeks to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Nigeria and in Edo State. “The markets are allowed to run, and the populace is also allowed to move about to a reasonable extent which is commendable.

“PFN, therefore, demands that churches should be allowed to be reopened with full compliance with the extant guidelines.” The communique jointly signed by the state PFN chairman, Bishop Mon Igbonisa, and the Secretary, Revd. Solomon Udi took objection to the harassment of pastors and Christians who attend church services while demanding the cessation of such treatment.

They should go and rest.

I'm in Benin some Church are now doing it the Catholic way now morning mass 5-6 and 6:15am-8. The pastors are really hungry no blame them

The church is the place of healing plagues. OpenthechurchofGod

Edo gov't should ignore these perniciously ignorant leeches, for their demand is unchristian & against humanity. If places of worship were to open, there'd be an uncontrollable explosion in COVID19 cases. It happened in South Korea. PFN can use tech to enlighten their folks.

Are witches disturbing them?🤣🤷🏽‍♀️

Because church is their only means of livelihood.... Their pockets have run dry

PFN: Take the govt to court for they're infringing on the rights of citizens to associate, under the disguise of fighting covid19

The church is a place for healing plaques. openthechurches

Churches, Mosques, Shrines and Beer parlors.....

Options have been weighed and it’s only right to think individuals are now hesitant to online giving and some so called MOG are bored and are having blurry visions into seeing into people’s future hence the need for this. We’re okay serving God from our homes.

Let them know that nobody is above the law.

Those people clearly don't know what give to ceaser what belongs to ceaser and to God what belongs to God means. Its time to give to ceaser what belongs to ceaser. They should know this

I advocate the psychiatric evaluation of these men to ascertain if the closure of their business environments has occassioned mental illness. No sane man can question the lockdown measures in view of the devastating effects of the SARS-COV-2 pandemic. ExposedCharlatans

Supported. All business centers should be open! U don't open some and lock down the others. I hate marginalisation, especially in business!

If the pastors r clamouring the FG to lift ban on churches...I guess parishes in pandemic countries should be opened also....none of the pastor can ever question president from other countries to open their parishes..I pity this so called country.

Demanding reopening of churches, but when MBuhari was setting the committee they didn't demand members of Pfn or CAN to be part of the NCDCgov and presidential task force committee.

How can you open markets and close churches It's an error, Let us come boldly unto the throne of Grace that we may obtain mercy to find Grace to help in the time of need. This is the time of need, let us go to God in unity 4 prayers. The assembly of d brethren cannot be forsaken

Imagine opening markets for Easter shopping & markets are still open while closing churches. It doesn't make sense, if you lockdown everywhere, then open nowhere.

You people are not suppose to be accusing this body now, it's our politicians that are greedy and guilty bcos of the money they're making since the beginning of this pandemic virus, there has been activities in market places and shopping malls while religion 🏠 is being lockdown

Stomach infrastructure PFN. Offerings and tithes don reduce. Common make una pray from una hux

Very important because una dey use una lockdown dey affect my church. All dis churches self una dey use una church dey affect my own church. Man need to update himself

Man shall not live by bread alone but by every thing pertaining to God.

The way some christian leaders take this measure of closing down large enclosed gathering will soon make efforts to curb spread of the COVID-19 virus a state versus church, profane versus holy battle. And whenever this becomes the case, our common enemy, the virus, will smile

Hunger kill una. Liars.

E like say una dey mad, overrating people sometimes dey bring nonsense, selfish folks, do you ppl really care abt your members, na ppl wey rate una i blame 🚶🏼🚶🏼

It still won't stop those birds to fly at midnight.

Go to Abuja and cry to Buhari na. SMH church has gone beyond the building. Closure of the building should not stop one from worshipping God na. Except they are not telling us what they are really looking for

Looks like they have been waiting for Oyedepo to do the trial balloon. It makes you wonder if they are conscious of the alarming figures of infected persons or do they think this is all a hoax? Anyway, anointed hankies and oils will be bought by those infected

Technology that's what they all need to know how to use. Anywhere two or three are gathered in his name he is there in their midst. Everyone should stay safe and fellowship in their homes.

Every Sidelined entrepreneur are getting restless, next it will be host communities of higher institutions.

Hmmm.the church is not the building, but the people in it, Have fellowships ah home, Praticr social distancing well. God help us all

I advocate the psychiatric evaluation of these men to ascertain if the closure of their business environments has occassioned mental illness. No sane man can question the lockdown measures in view of the devastating effects of the SARS-COV-2 pandemic. ExposedCharlatans
