The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Nigeria, Morteza Zarchi, discusses the religious situation in his country, the alleged dichotomy between Shia and Sunni and why Iran would not back down on its decision to pursue nuclear energy, in this interview with ADELANI ADEPEGBAAs you know and the Nigerian people know, the relations between Iran and Nigeria are very friendly. I think this also came from some western countries because they wanted to create a division between the Muslim nations. We don’t have any difference between Sunni and Shia; we have a lot of Sunni Muslims in Iran. We also have Christians, Jews and Zoroastrians and they have representatives in the parliament. We don’t have any problems with the Sunni Muslims or any problem between Shia and Sunni. They wanted to create a problem between the two big countries in Asia but they cannot .
