Evans and his gang kidnapped Mr Dunu, a pharmacist on 14 February 2017 and held him hostage before he managed to escape.

After his escape, Mr Dunu, Chief Executive Officer of Maydon Pharmaceutical Company filed Suit No: LD/5243GCM/2018 demanding the refund of the 223,000 Euros he paid as ransom while in the custody of the kidnap kingpin. In his testimony before the court, the claimant added that the defendant asked him to instruct his brothers, Anslem Dunu and Innocent Dunu to pay the ransom.

Anslem told the court that on 15 February 2017, a day after Mr Dunu’s abduction, he spoke with the claimant on phone and he instructed him to pay his abductors N100 million as a ransom for his release.Anslem added that it was one of his relatives, one Uchenna Okagwu that delivered the sum of 233,000 Euros to the abductors. In his defence, Evans contended that the strength of the claimant’s case was predicated majorly upon the criminal trial against him and others in Suit No. 1D/5970C/2017.

He argued that the evidence of Okagwu who delivered the said ransom to the abductors was the only direct evidence and must be proved beyond a reasonable doubt.

The court made the clarification on Wednesday following complaint by lawyer to Kaduna, Kogi and Zamfara states, Abdulhakeem Mustapha (SAN) that the Fed Govt and its agencies have failed to comply with the order and have allegedly directed the rejection of the old notes. Mustapha said the plaintiff filed a notice of none-compliance with the order of the court order made on February 8. And demanded that the court take action against the respondent to protect the dignity of the court. He added: “That order has been flouted by the government. We are talking of executive lawlessness here. We have filed an affidavit to that effect…We want the court to renew the order for parties to be properly guided.” Justice John Okoro, who presided over a seven-member panel of the court, asked Mustapha to… Unfortunately, the law is an ass in Africa. Pure lie. Tinubu's Paper. Purveyor of lies! 😂
