Court fixes date for judgment on Ogun PDP governorship ticket tussle

The Federal High Court, Abuja, has fixed 1 December for judgment in a suit filed by Jimi Lawal, an aggrieved governorship aspirant in the Ogun State Peoples Democratic Party ’s primary election.

Mr Lawal, through his lawyer, Kanu Agabi, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria , urged the court at the rehearing of the case on Thursday to nullify the 25 May primary election and order a fresh one. After listening to the lawyers, including counsel for the Independent National Electoral Commission , Bashir Abubakar, the judge, Mr Ekwo, adjourned the matter until 1 December for judgment.Mr Lawal, had in a suit marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/773/22, sued the PDP, the Independent National Electoral Commission , and Mr Adebutu, who was emerged as the winner of the 25 May governorship primary election of the PDP in Ogun State.

NAN reports that another judge of the Federal High Court in Abuja, Taiwo Taiwo, , had dismissed the suit on the grounds that the court lacked jurisdiction to hear it.
