‘Corruption should attract the death penalty’

against corruption in the country. We brought together the heads of major regulatory bodies, enforcement agencies and all anti-corruption agencies. The Vice President declared the event open. Again, we made contributions on some bills relating to the fight against corruption. We held numerous meetings to aid the fight against corruption. We are taking the fight to the states and local governments, especially because funds are being sent to LGAs directly.

I cannot see contradictions so long as what is done by the authorities falls under the ambit of the law. Hence, Maina and Goje’s cases are being treated under the law and may not pose a contradiction. In any case, their cases are still pending.The justice system in Nigeria is extremely slow and infested with grand corruption. It is the failure of the judiciary that has plunged Nigeria into crisis and counter-crisis.

The Court of Appeal has held that the anti-graft agencies cannot charge a corrupt judge until indicted by the NJC. Although on appeal at the Supreme Court, what is your opinion on the verdict? What laws on anti-corruption would you advise the Federal Government to push for their amendment/review? You are well known as a human rights specialist given your previous work. What is your assessment of the country’s human rights situation, with institutions such as the Amnesty International always rating Nigeria low, especially over military operations in the Northeast?

Three Youth Corps Died While Going To ChurchThe National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Katsina State, has confirmed the death of three corps members in a ghastly automobile crash on Sunday, in Gobirawa, while heading to a church programme in Funtua.
