Coronavirus: Reps urge federal government to halt flights from UK, Italy, others

Members of the House of Representatives have called on the federal government to halt all flights from UK, Spain, Italy, the USA, China and South Korea, where there are high cases of the dreaded coronavirus.

The federal government had announced that Nigeria had no plans on restricting any country’s nationals from entering the country. The U.S. and U.K., despite having high ongoing transmission and cases, are not part of the countries earmarked for intensive passengers screening.The U.S. ranks eighth on the table of countries with the highest number of confirmed cases with 3,802 confirmed cases while the U.K. ranks 10th with 1,391 confirmed cases following Switzerland.

He had spent two days within the country and visited Lagos and Ogun state before he fell ill and was diagnosed with Covid-19.Mr Onofiok’s motion was on the need for the federal government to postpone the national sports festival in Edo State and other large gatherings.

If the FG can shut land borders , the government should do same to save its citizen' lives...

Loud it Buhari need to take a decisive step now.

Reps have more sense than those inside that red Senate room.

I still wonder why our Govt are still joking with this virus...

The FG greed, stubbornness & cluelessness in banning flights from covid-19 infected country has caused Nigeria a 3rd case, possible more unknown cases. What kind of insensitive & nonsense govt is this? What if all passengers on that flight are infected & are spread across Nigeria

Close the boarders, last time I checked its already in Ghana. If precaution is not taken the entire country will be a mess. We can't even boast of good health facility talk less of handling the Covid-19 pandemic. Ground all international flights and close our boarders.
