THE people of Oma-Eke community in Udi Council Area of Enugu State have dragged the Permanent Secretary, Ecological Funds Office, before the Federal High Court in Enugu for an alleged non-execution of a 3.8km Ecological Fund road project valued over N429m awarded to check erosion menace in the area.
The plaintiffs, Nze Christopher Onwumelu, Samuel Ifoh, Iruka Ejiofor, Festus Metta, Uwaechie Metta and Harold Ofordu sued the defendants in a representative capacity for themselves and on behalf of Oma-Eke community through their counsel, Godwin Onwusi. The community in the suit which our correspondent obtained also sought the defendants to refund what they expended in preparing the bill of quantities/design for the road which was used to apply to the Ecological Funds office for the approval of the project, cost of the suit, among other expenses.
They however, wondered how a road project would be inaugurated before construction work even began, describing such act as “a monumental fraud that must be resisted.”
