The Ugwuma Edda community of Ebonyi State has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, over the murder of an indigene, Mr Kelechi Irem, by suspected political thugs.
The community alleged that the suspects were released after the Ebonyi State Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice, Cletus Ofoke, filed a no-case submission in favour of the accused persons. The petitioners accused the state government of influencing the release of the defendants, who were remanded after the magistrates’ court declined jurisdiction over the matter.
For past one week the traditional ruler of Ogwuaniocha in Ogbaru LGA of Anambra State was beaten to coma and body taken by the notorious Lion Squad members who are well known to the DPO of Atani Division who has been accused of protecting the Lion Squad gang. Investigate please.
