The Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folashade Adefisayo has called on private organisations, individuals, non-governmental organisations and other stakeholders in the sector, to support the development of education in the state and Nigeria at large, adding that government alone cannot do it without collective efforts.

Adefisayo made the call yesterday, at the Fidson Healthcare Plc, Astymin reward programme, held at the company’s head office, Obanikoro Lagos, where Fidson rewarded 250 best academic performing school children across the country. Represented by the Director of education, co-curricular at the Ministry of Education, Mrs. Sosanya Olubunmi, Adefisayo commended the organisation for its efforts, advising other private organisations to emulate the gesture for the sector’s development in the country.Head of Marketing, Astymin Brand, Mr. Friday Enahoro, said Astymin reward programme started since 2010 as their own Corporate Social Responsibility to give back to the society.

He stated that the company picked the best academic performing school children in nursery and primary schools in both private and public schools to encourage them to do more. Enahoro explained that in the past, the programme used to be a funfair for the school children, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they had to limit the number of students that participated in the programme.
