Coalition Storms DSS Headquarters, Demands Probe of Omo-Agege

A coalition of civil society groups on Friday stormed the headquarters of the Department of State Security , where it demanded the probe of the Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege over alleged forgery and perjury which it said was in contravention of the 1999 constitution as amended.

It said that available information in its possession gave credence to the fact that he was allegedly convicted by The State Bar Court of the State of California, Los Angeles, USA and he served a jail term. “Also, on March 7, 1993 in the county of Los Angeles, he again violated penal code 118 when he lied that he has never applied for Driver’s Licence or Identification Card, and was issued another licence this time in the name, Reginald C. Bedney.

“On or about July 31, 1999, he was issued with Identification Card no. A7453982 in his own name by the California Department of Motor Vehicles. He used as his date of birth, August 3, 1963. “On December 29, 1992, he applied again for an identification card under a fake name, Kirk Derwin Johnson with another fake date of birth, December 16, 1965. In the application, he lied that he had been issued Driver’s Licence no. C783552168384419 in the state of New York.”

Adodo said that Omo-Agege willfully concealed the fact of the said conviction from the Independent National Electoral Commission and the Nigerian Senate thereby contravening the provisions of the Nigerian Constitution and the Rules of the Senate.
