The Provost, Prof. Adewale Oke, at the inauguration of the centre, said the unit would ensure the tenets of quality assurance was embedded into the day-to-day operation of the College.

He said, “The quality assurance and SERVICOM unit of the University of Lagos was established on May 12, 2012. Remarkable improvements in the quality and quantity of service delivery had been made since then. The time has come for the institutionalisation of the unit in the College of Medicine. We will ensure that the tenets of quality assurance and SERVICOM are embedded into the operation of the College.

The Director of Quality Assurance and SERVICOM, University of Lagos Prof. Grace Otinwa, said the new unit was expected to deploy quality assurance mechanisms, improve the quality and standard of teaching, scholarship, research and service in the College. “The goals of quality assurance and SERVICOM are entrenched in the overall mission of the University of Lagos. To be able to achieve these goals, the new unit is expected to deploy quality assurance mechanisms to help the College achieve its mission and objectives.”

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, said, “We need to make sure that we keep the standard of our teaching, test, and examination. Issues will come up now or in future where people will request information concerning our conduct.”All rights reserved.
