Club owner breaks down as Abuja authorities desmolish ‘N500 million’ Caramelo bar

Officials from social development office in Abuja on Monday demolished a night club at the heart of the Nigerian capital.

Caramelo was also known to operate an upscale gentleman’s club and a two-star hotel in its one-storey structure. Its presence was easily noticed amongst other properties in the neighbourhood. The witnesses said the conduct bore a striking similarity to what transpired when the bar was raided on April 19. At least 34 women were arrested, PREMIUM TIMES reported. The officials who carried out the controversial raid did not comment when they arrived, even though they engaged in fisticuffs with bouncers.

Mr Eze gave PREMIUM TIMES an insight into the hopelessness he felt about the situation, which he described as entirely avoidable.

segalink We live in a crude country

segalink This is Nigeria you offend those in power, not in good terms with them ,or don’t do thier bidding they take you down at all cost

I gave up on Nigeria years ago. Failed state oshi

The demolition defies logic and sound reasoning. In a fragile economy, I still can't fathom the common sense in pulling down the structures alongside everything in it. No explanation can conceal the insensitivity, cruelty and wickedness exhibited I am still in shock.

Registered as a clinic and changed fraudulently to a club. Nigerians will never change. Gosh

For what offence exactly? I'm never a fan of clubbing but is running a club illegal? Was the building an illegal structure? What's the basis of this demolition?
