The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria has inducted 450 new members into the association, which serves as the umbrella body for professional human resource management in the country.

The induction ceremony was held in Lagos, with the theme ‘Value creation through human capital development: Issues and options’. Speaking in an interview with our correspondent on the sidelines of the event, the keynote speaker and former CIPM President, Mr Oladimeji Alo, said the ceremony was symbolic as it provided orientation to the inductees before their foray in the world of professional personnel management.

He said some of the inductees came into the association through work experience while the others came in through examinations. He said, “The difference is that these are the ones recognised and certified as professionals. You know in every group, you have the quacks and you have the professionals. Even in medicine, which is about the most sensitive business we have dealing with human lives, we have people who are practising who are not certified. All rights reserved.
