He talks about his mother’s life withI am a managing partner, Debo-Akande, LLP. We are four children – two boys and two girls. Three of us are lawyers. My elder sister is a high court judge in Lagos. I am a lawyer and my younger brother, Adeboye, is also a lawyer. He is a partner in Debo-Akande LLP. My sister, Adejoke, is a businesswoman.Yes, she did. My first degree was political science and after I graduated, it was the year my father died.
Last year, we held a conference to celebrate her 10th remembrance and it was hosted by the Women Law Development Centre currently managed by Dr. Keziah Awosika. Many people came to share their personal experiences with her and how she contributed to their careers on legal practice.It is interesting because we all share different sides and aspects of law. It is always interesting conversations whenever we talk about law even though we are all passionate about law in different aspects.
For instance, we held an event for the firm sometime last year on divorce proceedings and the effect on women. It is crucial to consider women because they have the children and they find themselves in a position that they are the ones to get a divorce because men don’t care. Those were the issues we looked at and they also flowed into custody of children which is another area and issues about it keep evolving. We keep hearing interesting stories and we try to figure out solutions to them.
