Egyptian referee Gehad Grisha has been suspended after controversy in the first-leg of the African Champions League final, where hosts Wydad Casablanca were denied a penalty and had a goal disallowed, the Confederation of African Football said Tuesday.

The move comes after the Moroccan Football Federation lodged a complaint against Grisha’s decisions during a Friday’s match pitting Wydad against Esperance Tunis. Grisha ruled out a goal for the hosts, Wydad Casablanca, and later denied them a penalty after VAR replays.
