The two Nigerian teams face a daunting task in their next games as they eye a place in the lucrative group stage of the Champions League

The two Nigerian teams in the CAF Champions League, Plateau United and Rivers United, have successfully navigated through the preliminary round of the competition.

At the M.K.O Abiola Stadium, the adopted home ground for Plateau United, the Peace Boys, as they are fondly called, secured a 1-0 win over Stade Mandji of Gabon. The passage means Plateau United face the herculean task of beating four-time African champions Esperance of Tunisia, who won successive titles in 2018 and 2019 to qualify for the lucrative group stage of the Champions League.
