The Senate yesterday received a request from President Muhammadu Buhari for the elevation of eight Appeal Court justices to the Supreme Court.
According to Buhari, the request for the confirmation of the eight justices to the nation’s apex court was in line with the provisions of Section 231 of the 1999 Constitution and the advice of the National Judicial Council . In another request to the Senate dated September 14, 2020, the president sought the confirmation of appointment of the Chairman and Commissioners of the National Population Commission .
The request, according to the president, was made in accordance with Section 171, and sub-section of the 1999 Constitution as amended.
Imagine that the fate of SAN's and chief justices to federation are in the hand of an illiterate, a fellow who don't even have a school cert. That on its own is an irony and a weird situation.
