Buhari pledges to leave office in 2023

President Muhammadu Buhari has assured Nigerians that he will leave office in 2023.“I will be standing down in 2023 and will not be available in any future elections,” the president wrote.

Mr Buhari’s clarification comes amidst fears by some Nigerians that he was seeking a backdoor to continue in office beyond the constitutionally permitted 2023. Mr Buhari was first elected president in 2015 on the APC platform. He won reelection earlier this year defeating dozens of other candidates including Atiku Abubakar, a former vice president and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party.

He had to repeatedly hammer the pledge into your dumbskull, mischief media and their sympathetic wailers.

You don't need to pledge MBuhari because it's simply a matter of constitutionalism.

See me see Baba, do you have choice than to leave?

He wont have a choice

Why should this even be news? He is obligated by law to leave office in 2023, no ifs or buts period!

Can he just leave now?

Was that supposed to be a debate?

Please leave oooo

About Before?

Ma Shaa Allah!!! Alhamdulillah!!!

He’s a man of integrity. All his critics cannot match his honesty.

No he shouldn't leave he should die there

Is this something we need to know? report useful please, this is just like telling us the day will get dark by 7pm today.

He should stay and allow his dead body to continue to rule... Also, he should ensure he passes a law to ensure that the dead rule even at their demise...

2023 is too far

He doesn't have any other choice. This is 2019 and our democracy is too deep for anything else to happen

Imbe

come to think of it, how many pledge has GMB kept. We aren't move by this until 2023 comes. All fingers crossed. Lest we forget, youth would soon earnestly ask for Buhari. People that asked in Abacha days are still much around.

No die there no leave ...

We need you to leave before then Mr man

He is re-phrasing it bcos some people thought he won’t leave office. But this shouldn’t be a news in a news year

Nigeria is bigger than one person. He will surely leave there one day either dead or alive so I don't understand why PMB keeps stressing he will leave in 2023.

Why pledging? It’s normal for him to leave office .... why is this even making the news smh

This isn't news, he knows perfectly well he has to leave office then.

We know but u must undo all the things u did and make sure u walk away with all ur structures and give younger and visionary Nigerians a chance!

Like he had a choice

We want to see president MBuhari leaving office in 2023 with awards as a defender of democratic values. But the enemies of the president in the ruling party hv hijacked & 'thuggerised' the electoral system for their selfish interest denting his gud name as clearly seen in Kano.

Ah Do you need to pledge sir? The constitution says you should leave, you don’t need no pledge! You’ll leave one way or the other... ask Abacha!

Nah you be own this our beloved country before. ?

This is no news, constitutionally speaking he was meant to level anyway as is constitutional allow state in office will be elapsed by then. Except if he had other agendas in mind

Please sir we want you to continue please dont let us fall down... hold us

Before nko?

Before nko....

Good bye 🤣😂

I don't understand,does the constitution have 3rd term?

This man na Audio Man, don’t believe whatever he says

Please don't.. We need you, continue...

Why na? I am disappointed in you brah 😐
