President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the immediate relaxation of COVID-19 safety measures and travel advisory following the recommendations of the Presidential Steering Committee on COVID-19 based on clinical and laboratory evidence of sustained reduction in infection/transmission across the country.

The relaxed measures, according a statement by Secretary to the Government of the Federation , Boss Mustapha include: gathering limitation in public places and use of facemasks. However, the elderly, the immuno-compromised and those with co-morbidities are advised to use facemasks, wash hands with clean water and soap, use hand sanitisers and avoid large gatherings.

Other measures relaxed by the government are travel testing and health declaration form. The SGF, who chairs the Presidential Steering Committee on COVID-19 passionately appeals to Nigerians to ensure that they take their COVID-19 vaccinations as well as booster doses,” it noted.
