POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the party’s National Working Committee which took the decision, also dissolved the executives of the Ogun State chapter of the party.Arabambi had insisted that the Director-General of the presidential campaign council of the party, Doyin Okupe, is not a member of the party.
This newspaper recalls that Arabambi had been involved in a running battle with Okupe, an ally of the Labour Party’s presidential flag-bearer, Peter Obi.The state chapter had last Thursday announced the sack of Okupe and 10 others for allegedly not paying membership fees, high-handedness and financial recklessness.
According to the Labour Party’s state chairperson, Michael Ashade, the affected persons contravened Article 9 sub and Article 9 of the party’s constitution and thereby ceased to be party members. However, the National Secretary of the party, Farouk Ibrahim, declared Ashade’s pronouncement concerning Okupe as null and void.
