[BREAKING] Electoral Bill: Senate approves direct, indirect or consensus for party primaries

The Senate on Wednesday re-amended the Electoral Act Bill, 2021, passed by the National Assembly on November 18, 2021.

He said the chamber, in Clause 84 of the report, approved direct, indirect primaries or consensus as procedure for the nomination of candidates by political parties for the various elective positions. Clause 84 further provides that “a political party that adopts the system of indirect primaries for the choice of its candidate shall adopt the procedure outlined below; In the case of nominations to the position of Presidential candidate, a political party shall, hold special conventions in each of the 36 states of the federation and FCT, where delegates shall vote for each of the aspirants at designated centres in each State Capital on specified dates.

The amendment followed a motion sponsored by the Senate Leader, Yahaya Abdullahi , for its re-commital to the Committee of the Whole.

Which one are they approving? Buhari should assent to the bill.

Because INEC said they won’t release the election time table if the electoral bill was not passed and signed😂😂. We would have had a functioning country ever since if our independent bodies were indeed independent.

Rubber stamp National Assembly rubber stamps President Buhari's instruction into bill/law. They have turned themselves into Federal Civil Servants not representatives of the people. Rigged election produces disastrous results.
