A former deputy governor of Ondo state, Agboola Ajayi, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the forthcoming election.He polled 264 votes at the party primary which took place in Akure, the Ondo State capital, today.Politics Nigeria reported that the PDP had appointed the geputy governor of Bayelsa State, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, to head the seven-member governorship primary election committee.
According to a statement by the state publicity secretary, Kennedy Peretei on Wednesday, 627 delegates would participate in the primary election on Thursday. The leadership of the PDP had settled for indirect primary in which only the 627 delegates will elect the party’s flag-bearer for the November 16, 2024 governorship election.
According to Peretei, seven governorship aspirants were cleared by the Senator Sam Egwu screening committee to participate in the primary election.
