Talented chanteuse, Bose Johnson, has returned with an interesting new bop dubbed, First Journey. The groovy jam is a feel-good record that toasts the prowess of the singer’s songwriting talent.

Produced by Skytimz, the song stretches the legacy achieved by her earlier records, Concoction, Oyari and Fine Boy, where Bose weaves mesmeric melodies with simple, relatable concepts.

In a chat with Weekend Beats, the multi-instrumentalist traces her career journey to her early childhood, where she drew inspiration from her late father who was a teacher by day and a musician at night. She also mentions Majek Fashek, Angelique Kidjo, Bob Marley and Youssou N’Dour, as some of her major influences as a singer.

“I didn’t really like it as a child, because I wanted to play with my friends instead. But my dad would rather make me score songs and practice the keyboard often. This carried on for a while till he passed and look who enjoys playing music now. I’m so grateful to him for all the discipline and hard work. I miss him everyday,” she recounted.
