The police also arrested one Clement Asuk of Akamkpa local government area of Cross River State at Kano Motor Park in Maiduguri with 126 Anti-Air Craft ammunitions, 222 of 7.62mm of Life Ammunition, 517 of 7.62mm By 51 Life Ammunition, 7.62mm By 39 Life Ammunition, among others.
The arrests were disclosed to journalists on Friday in Maiduguri by the Borno State Commissioner of Police, Abdu Umar, who said between January to March this year, the Command recorded 25 cases and arrested 46 suspects. CP Umar said the Command recorded the success in pursuance of the Inspector General of Police , Baba Alkali Usman’s mandate to police commands to go out with full force to ensure security of lives and properties of citizens.He said the Borno Command during the period under review was not unmindful of the security challenges bevelling the State amongst which are culpable homicide, kidnappings, armed robbery and rape just to mention but a few.
He, however, noted that remarkable efforts were not spared in addressing the situation which culminated into the relative peace currently being enjoyed by law abiding citizens in the State. The C P said: “On 24/03/2022 at about 1300hrs One Usman Haruna ‘M’ of Askira/Uba L.G.A of Borno State reported at Askira/Uba Division that one Zakariya Ya’u ‘M’ 46yrs old of the same address forcefully had a canal knowledge/sexual intercourse with one Wamdubu Bello ‘F’ 92yrs old of the same address. Case is under investigation.
