The National President of the Association of Tourism Boats Operators and Water Transporters, Ganiyu Balogun, who spoke to our correspondent said the establishment of the floating checkpoint would provide more security for users.
He said, “Recently, we have had stakeholder meetings with the National Inland Waterways Authority and the Lagos State Waterways Authority. “We are asking them to provide a floating checkpoint just like you find on the road. You will see on the road, you see police vehicle here and there. We need something like that so the bad boys will be kept out of the waters.”
Balogun lauded the launch of the first fuel station on the Lagos inland waterways, sited at Five Cowrie Creek, LASWA jetty. All rights reserved.
