A professor in the Department of Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management of the Lagos State University, Yunus Dauda, has called on the government to enact better policies that would enable the country benefit from global technology.

Prof Dauda stated this during the recent 83rd LASU Inaugural Lecture Series with the theme, ‘Managing Technological Challenges: Workers’, Employers’ and Governments’ Perspectives’. He maintained that technology enables managers to work remotely, as well as facilitate independent contracting and outsourcing. He said, “Managers can move around to take multiple positions and jobs to afford the lifestyle they want. It provides great benefits to workers, businesses and consumers. To benefit from global technology, the resources and policies of the government should be directed towards improving technological innovation.

The university don added that the government should provide security for people and organisations, as well as finance and support for research and development programmes, and improve workers’ compensation for enhanced productivity.
