Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth AliaGovernor of Benue State, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, on Thursday, urged the Federal Government to direct some of its agro investments to his state known as the food basket of the nation.“We need everyone with the thinking and with the actions that can help us to move from grass to grace in terms of food, food security, and basic state security,” Alia told journalists after meeting Vice President Kashim Shettima at the State House on Wednesday evening.

He said he urged Shettima, who has a strong leaning for agriculture, to support the Benue State government as the food basket of the nation to achieve peak food production in the state and the country. The United Nations-supported food and nutrition analysis for 2023 indicates that nearly 25 million Nigerians are at risk of hunger due to food shortages.
