leading to loss of lives and properties to defiance and total disregard to constituted authorities by the people.

It is for this reason, said the government, that it is taking appropriate steps to assert the authority of the state, as well as taking such matters to court for adjudication for the people to be disciplined by decisions of the court of law. A government statement in Bauchi yesterday therefore called on people in the state, particularly those involved or affected by such unfortunate incidents to await the decision of the court of law.

The statement signed by the special adviser to the governor on media and publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, said the state government is ready to deal decisively with anybody that seeks to incite or undertake any action that could lead to a breakdown of law and order.
