The Premium Breadmakers Association of Nigeria says it has suspended its four-day warning strike which began on Thursday.

had reported how bakers under the aegis of the PBAN announced plans to halt production last week.

A statement signed by the association said operating a bakery in Nigeria had become almost impossible as the incessant increases in the prices of baking materials and diesel had affected the industry negatively. The statement read in part, “In a move to ensure the survival of the premium bread-making industry in Nigeria, we have decided to embark on a withdrawal of services beginning from Thursday 21st of July, 2022 for four days in the first instance and where there is no intervention from the government, we shall escalate the duration of the withdrawal.”

“The reasons for the withdrawal of services included an incessant increase in the price of baking materials, Federal Government’s 15 per cent wheat development levy on wheat imports, NAFDAC’s N154,000 penalty charged for late renewal of certificates, the inability of its members to access grants and soft loans being given by the Central Bank of Nigeria to Micro, Small and Medium-Scale Enterprises and multi-agencies regulation of the bread-making industry.”All rights reserved.

My best food is increasing all days....

I have been on bread strike since they hiked it the first time. Agbado!

Hahahahaha when ?

God where is your face come and intervene in our case… they are taking our physical DAILY BREAD from us. If they take this from us it will remain THY KINGDOM COME. Let THY WILL BE DONE in Nigeria.

Olodos go and line up and vote for your grave because of 2k, mumus don't vote at all just sleep or pray for anybody to win

The hike is not to blame, but the failure of the Govt. This administration did not show any concern about the plight of the nation.

This is very helpful in the long run as eating bread on a daily basis isn't great for people's health anyway!!

Always owing Nigerians to ransom.

Our daily bread is now very very expensive and everyone's happy about it, it's good.

The every thing that the masses enjoys and needed has been taking away by our leaders. See Kerosene, Petrol, food stuffs etc

Oyinlayo_ eku ise o

If nah naija wey me I no eehh, by now people for don gather for street... Nigeria don scatter chai!🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️🚶‍♀️

Bread and water is now a luxury 😭

One of the legacy of Buhari and APC government 💔 .... But we mooooove.

D bakers union are evil then. Whenever dey want 2 increase Price, dey will embark on unnecessary strike. I wonder why dey keep increasing price while d quantity remains same. E.g, dey are still baking bread sold for 800 wit same pan of 250 . Where's consumer protection council?

Is the strike an awareness of hike in price? I don’t understand

Normal level

Evil everywhere
