Youths in Badagry area of Lagos State on Tuesday staged protest against the alleged multiple checkpoints and extortion of motorists by law enforcement agents on Agbara-Badagry Expressway.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that youths, in different groups, were seen at the popular Badagry Roundabout carrying placards with various inscriptions.

Hunpe, representing Badagry Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, made the plea while speaking with NAN in Badagry on the youths’ planned protest.Commenting on Tuesday protest, Mr Gabriel Tianka, one of the coordinators of the protest, said the issue of Badagry was not only about police brutality.“From Badagry to Agbara, there are more than 16 police checkpoints.

Babatunde said that tourists had abandoned the town because of the multiple checkpoints mounted by various law enforcement agents, as well as the deplorable state of the road. “Now that the government is trying to reform the police, they should help us to see to the multiple checkpoints too. The youths marched down to Badagry Local Government Secretariat, where the Chief of Staff to the Chairman of the Council addressed them and pledged his support for their protest.

Last time i traveled, it took me 4 hours from Lome to Seme and it took ne an additional 4 hours from Seme to Iyana-Iba due to multiple check points. It's time to put an end to these check points

God will bless the people that staged this protest. The multiple check points from Seme to Iyana Iba road is too much. Law enforcement agents on that road are too corrupt yet nobody's check-mating their operations.
