Hulking Eraring Power Station

Australia delayed the closure of its largest coal-fired power plant on Thursday, saying it needed the heavily polluting facility to bridge a capacity gap while racing to scale up renewables.

The Australian Conservation Foundation said Eraring was a dirty “coal clunker” that belched out almost three percent of the country’s total greenhouse gas emissions. Like many countries, Australia is trying to reconcile its long dependence on fossil fuels with bold ambitions to embrace renewable energy.

The Minister of State, Federal Capital Territory , Dr Mariya Mahmoud, has urged Nigerians to increase investment in afforestation, describing it as critical towards building a healthy environment for a healthy life. The Central Bank of Nigeria has released new guidelines aimed at regulating Bureau De Change operations in Nigeria.
