The team gave the commendation while inspecting the Benue Geographic Information Service building project which is almost completed at the Ministry of Lands, Survey and Solid Minerals, Makurdi, the Benue State capital.
She described the building as an edifice of necessity, adding that it would outlive many generations to come and also meet the demands, function and purpose for which it was constructed. He also stated that selected staff of the Ministry have been trained on the effective use of the cutting-edge IT platforms that is already deployed at the temporary BENGIS facilities, expressing happiness that the trained staff who are beneficiaries of the training have automatically added value to the operations of the Ministry as well as improved their capacity.
The Commissioner disclosed that, apart from the building infrastructures, deployment of GIS and Survey facilities, installation of a Mast to boost survey operations, purchase of field vehicles as well as training of staff are all part of the BENGIS project, saying Aerial Survey of the entire state has also been carried out for digital photography and mapping in line with international trends.
