Armenian President Armen Sarkisian on Sunday announced that he was resigning his largely ceremonial position, citing the inability of his office to influence policy during times of national crisis.

The announcement comes on the back of a period instability in the small and economically struggling ex-Soviet Caucasus nation in the wake of a war with its long-standing rival Azerbaijan.

At the core of that disagreement was the dismissal of the Armenian military’s chief of staff, and Sarkisian had refused to sign an order from Pashinyan to see him moved, in what was a serious blow to the embattled prime minister. He added that various political groups in the landlocked country view the office of the presidency not as a boon to Armenia but as “a danger to them”.“I hope that eventually the constitutional changes will be implemented and the next president and presidential administration will be able to operate in a more balanced environment,” the statement added.

A former physics professor, Armen Sarkisian, was born in 1953 in the capital Yerevan. He served as prime minister between 1996-1997, according to an official biography.

Hello text me on Hangouts rebeccaronnie563gmail.com

That's what democracy's like!

African leaders don't have time for resign...is not even their own perspective at all. They would rather die than to resign. They are too anxious of power. I pledge to Nigeria 🇳🇬 my country 😊

In my country, hardship allowance Wil rather be paid to the Executive and Legislators instead

I trust my naija it can never happen here, instead they will look away

His decision wasn't right

He is accountable to the people but here we have rulers who are not for the people but for themselves. They will rather kill anyone who wants to be accountable to the people rather than resign. What we have here are looters & plunderers who masquerade as leaders.

Better to resign due to lack of knowledge to manage your crisis than to stay in power and pilling up more debts, more inflation and more insecurities at the detriment of the nation like Nigeria.

MBuhari see your mate

Buhari left the chat

How I wish this can happen in my fathers land

When will this ever happen in NIGERIA

Oh God when?

This can never happen in my country
