APWEN President, Dr. Elisabeth Eterigho, who stated this while addressing the female engineers in Abuja, said they are ready to assist the Federal Government in its quest to create new opportunities in renewable energy. Eterigho said the current power crisis in Nigeria will persist until government diversifies energy sources and ensures access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern technologies.

Speaking on the theme, ‘A Just Energy Transition’, the APWEN boss observed that the move is geared at sustaining a low carbon and equitable energy system that improves lives and the environment, besides encouraging adoption of available technologies to reduce energy wastages. Eterigho explained that the current energy sources are not renewable, resulting in high carbon and environmental pollution, adding that fossil fuel-exporting countries are seeking how to leverage the change in demand patterns.
