The Court of Appeal, Enugu, on Thursday, upheld the judgement of the Federal High Court which ordered the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to pay N2m compensation to a citizen, Mujeeb Fadeyi,

for blinding one of his eyes during torture.

Not satisfied with the judgement, the NSCDC filed an appeal before the Enugu Court of Appeal in Appeal No. CA/E/20/2014. Fadeyi was arrested by NSCDC officers on January 9, 2008, as he was stripped naked, tortured and brutalised. The victim, through a non-governmental organisation, Civil Rights Realisation and Advancement Network, filed a suit against the NSCDC at the Federal High Court.
