The state congress of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State has commenced in Port Harcourt, the state capital.Accreditation for delegates from the 23 local government areas of the state started around 8 am on Saturday.
Security has also been beefed up around the area as a section of the road leading to the venue has been closed to traffic. Participants as well as journalists covering the area are being subjected to thorough search before being allowed access into the venue. The exercise is coming amid calls by some APC members loyal to senator Magnus Abe for the congress to be postponed until the crisis within the party is resolved.
