On August 1, the joint force of the troops of the 82 division of the Nigerian army, police and operatives of other security agencies,Onyema Nwachukwu, the army spokesperson, had said five soldiers and two police officers sustained bullet wounds during the encounter with members of the group.

Tochukwu Ikenga, the command’s spokesperson, said the commissioner of police promised that the injured officers would not be abandoned.“The CP made a cash donation to the officers and prayed for their quick recovery while assuring them that the police force would not abandon or leave them behind,” the statement reads.the welfare of the officers is “paramount to the leadership of the force”.
