Nigerian comedienne, Princess Damilola Adekoya, has expressed optimism that she would emerge victorious in a sexual assault case she brought up against Olanrewaju James popularly known as Baba Ijesha. The post was made a few hours after news broke that Baba Ijesha has been granted bail.

Among the bail conditions listed by the lawyer for Baba Ijesha’s release are two reliable sureties – one of them must be a level-10 officer and the second, a direct blood relation, with N500,000 bail bond in like sum. A copy of the letter obtained by our correspondent was dated, May 14, 2021, and titled ‘Re: Olanrewaju James Omiyinka application for immediate grant of bail’.

“We submit that the continuous detention of Mr Olanrewaju James Omiyinka at your SCID Panti Yaba facility, for about thirty days now, in our respectful view, is in gross breach of his fundamental human rights as cognisable under the 1999 constitution the grand norm of the nation’s legal architecture.

I think Princess is an ignorant of the Law, but that's no excuse. An accused person(s) is entitled to bail but of course with some exceptions. He has to be charged to court of competent jurisdictions first and other steps will follow. That is the Rule of Law sentiment apart.

This shouldn't be a competition, justice should be served
